Science Building
Donald Keith Science Building
The Museum inaugurated its sophisticated collections storage and conservation facility in 1994. The Science Building, named in honor of Dr. Donald H. Keith, a long time friend of the Turks and Caicos National Museum and archaeologist for the Molasses Reef Shipwreck Project, provides:

conservation laboratory
climate controlled collections storage
workshop
lecture room
offices

It is within this science building that the Museum welcomes visiting researchers, graduate students, and interns to our collections and research resources. By providing researchers access to our collections and facilities, we promote scholarly work on the natural and human History of the islands.

The Museum's collections focus on aspects of life unique to the Islands:

Library on Bahamian and Turks and Caicos Islands History (holdings list currently unavailable)
Pre-Columbian Lucayan Indian
European Contact Period
Colonial and Modern Period Stamps
Coins
Historic documents (some dating to 18th century)
Maps (link to come)
Images
Allan Bishop Collection (photographs and printed material)
Barbara Currie Dailey Collection (photographs and printed material)
Ted Philippona Collection (photographs)
Helen Richeson Collection (photographs)
Roger Tutt Collection (photographs)

There is also a growing collection of mid- to late-20th century material documenting present day life for future generations.

For more information see the section on the Museum Archive, which has sections on the Local Studies Library and Photographic Archive.
