The Most Visited Site in the TCI
Tiny Fort St George Cay is one of the most visited historic sites in the islands, but very little is known about the fort and the people that gave this island its name.
Ships of Discovery and the Turks & Caicos National Museum are teaming up to delve into one of the most interesting stories in the islands. Tiny Fort St George Cay receives nearly 20,000 visitors a year, yet very little is known about the soldiers who manned the fort in the 1780s. The project to explore the island and to document the remains of the fort will began on October 23 and ran through November 6, 2009. Learn about the Expedition Team of archaeologists and volunteers, read A Brief History of the Fort, and stay up to date with discoveries with the Expedition Daily Log.
